urrey Police Traffic Centre
hosted a visit from Sir
Paul Beresford, MP for
Mole Valley, Surrey, who saw
a demonstration of the impact
that Airwave’s innovative new
technology is having in supporting
policing across the county.
Surrey Police is the first force in
Great Britain to be piloting Airwave’s
4GMax – a new service from Airwave
trialling mobile broadband for
customers with a multitude of uses,
including live video.
With an in-car demonstration, Sir
Paul was able to see first-hand how
4GMax is already proving very effective
in supporting the force. Data captured
during the pilot has already proven that
the sharing of live images between the
control room and specialist activities
such as surveillance means faster and
more informed decisions, reducing the
time of each operation and delivering
corresponding cost savings and
resource utilisation.
Sir Paul also received a
demonstration of the benefits
delivered to Surrey Police by
Airwave’s Pronto electronic notebook
and application suite, which is used
by the force to support their digital
transformation and move towards
paperless policing.
With Pronto, police officers have
remote and mobile access to all local
and national backend systems. At the
scene of an incident they simply key
in the information to intuitive and pre-
populated forms which can then be
digitally reused if addtional forms are
needed. Once completed, the forms
are uploaded to the police systems
while on the move. The Pronto
electronic notebook is secure and can
also operate offline, making it a vital
tool when officers are operating in
the commercial network black spots
across the county.
“I was very pleased to visit our
local force and gain a greater
understanding of the technology
behind day-to-day policing across
the county,” said Sir Paul. “The
