‘Embracing’ initiatives to
support child victims of crime
for the charity. Diane has raised more
than £15,000.
The evening was attended by some
400 guests and featured horse racing,
silent and live auctions and concluded
with dancing to a live band.
Richard said: “The annual
dinner is an important event in the
charity’s calendar and combines
an entertaining evening with some
serious fundraising. This year was
no exception although I was rather
surprised to nd myself bidding
against Deborah my wife for a couple
of items – all for a good cause!”

A
irwave’s apprentice
scheme has proved
its worth after all
four engineering apprentices
secured permanent roles
within the business.
After completing their
two-year apprenticeships,
Adam Conboy, Adam Smedley,
George Booker and George
Schwab have joined the
Con guration and Network
Management Centre teams
on a permanent basis.
During their rst year, the
apprentices completed short
placements covering everything from
eld engineering to spending time
with Service Relationship Managers
and the Business Continuity team.
Airwave’s Learning and Development
Advisor Victoria Macindoe explains:
“The placements are designed to help
the apprentices learn as much as they
can about Airwave, our Service, and
our customers.
“In year two they then took
that broad knowledge forward
and used it to help them select
three departments they’d like
to spend more time with during
extended placements.”
The apprentices also spend
time throughout the two-year
programme taking part in
block release lessons at
Warwickshire College.
Airwave hopes to recruit more
engineering apprentices in the near
future to build on the success of
previous programmes and build the
company’s future talent base.
