Airwave provided consultancy services to Siemens A/S of Oslo, Norway, for the Nødnett public safety radio scheme.
Airwave's role was to participate in the team designing and implementing the operations side of the project.
Siemens has been awarded contracts for the design, build and maintenance of the network plus control rooms, in conjunction with Frequentis.
The first part of the network in the Oslo region was scheduled for completion in September 2007, and will eventually cover the entire country. Siemens has to deliver a documented process design to the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and the Police against tight time scales and Airwave's expertise in operating a national network with in excess of 200,000 users was considered to be a key factor in achieving delivery.
