Serving the Police

Airwave has been used by all police forces in England, Scotland and Wales since 2005.  The service replaced the disparate individual force analogue radio systems and – for the first time ever – provided a common communications platform for all forces and policing agencies. 

As well as improved radio coverage and security, Airwave gives the police:

• Improved speech clarity
• National roaming
• Improved officer safety via an emergency button on each terminal
• Improved interoperability among forces and with other emergency services
• Improved access to mobile data applications
