Making Connections
CCI
The Communications Control Interface is the point at which the Airwave service connects to the control room. It does so via a permanent, secure and resilient voice and data connection into the network.
Bulk Recording Interface
The Bulk Recording Interface enables the continuous, real-time recording of multiple talk group conversations, using a customer’s own recording equipment. Up to eight talk groups can be recorded simultaneously. Any talk group can be recorded, including those that do not involve a dispatcher.
Packet Data IP Gateway
The Packet Data IP Gateway enables the transfer of IP data between IT systems and radio users. Examples include remote access to internal and external databases and applications (e.g. HazChem, personnel records, procedures and forms, and Automatic Vehicle Location).
This gateway conforms to IPv4 with Ethernet hand-off. Security features include IP filtering to maintain Airwave network integrity.
A number of resilience options are available including an option with no single point of failure including physically separate connections to Airwave.
Short Data Gateway
The Short Data Service Gateway provides mobile access to dedicated applications by converting IP data containing SDS messages into suitably addressed message packages.
Private Telephone Network Gateway
The Private Telephone Network Gateway converts an Airwave radio into a mobile phone at the touch of a button, meaning there’s no need to carry a radio and a mobile phone. Moreover, users can keep in touch without having to return to base.
In addition to allowing users to be contacted directly by the communities they serve, users themselves can dial landlines and mobiles, providing this access is supported by the customer’s network. PSTN access can be enabled or disabled, if the customer’s phone system supports Call Barring.
Users can access phone system functionality, such as office extensions. And office-based personnel can call radio users easily and quickly, by dialling what is effectively their office extension number.
This service supports Dual Tone Multiple Frequency signalling and is presented via a choice of industry standard primary rate interfaces (e.g. DSS1, QSIG, FeatureNet 1000 and FeatureNet 5000).
